This week, 100 people gathered for the city’s charity gala at the down-home Waterville Golf Club in Virginia, home of the perfect par 71.
Yes, it’s also home to that foursome of Charlie Chaplin, Mayor George Marsh, Grace Padgett and a longtime tennis partner of hers called Peter. The event, known as the Mayor’s Classics, is one of many going on this weekend at the Deer Run Country Club. It also sponsored a “Suicide Club” trivia night on Wednesday, gave guys a chance to win hunting guns as prizes for all their skills this fall and opened doors at the Country Club as the club invites the public for a chance to play 18 holes of golf for a great cause.
And yes, it’s also home to the launch of the Bel-Air Golf and Country Club, a fashion and cultural event with an aerial by National Geographic photographer Adam Bergman. Watch this piece to find out why the Roaring ’20s star made his annual trip to this resort every year.
The night also brought in former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor as well as golf champion Tiger Woods. You can watch their videos here and here.
