The provincial government has activated a special disaster operations centre in the worst-hit area of British Columbia, which has been declared a disaster area.

Dead and missing: British Columbia search and rescue teams are searching for those missing after yesterday’s mudslides and flooding. Authorities have reported six deaths as of today.

Flooded: So far, 6,800 homes and 400 businesses in British Columbia are without power.

Evacuation alert: Residents are being advised to evacuate from areas under an evacuation alert. It is unknown how long the evacuation alert will remain in place.

Blocked roads: More than 140 roads are closed due to flooding. Power has been restored to “some” areas.

Traffic and cancelled flights: Several Trans Canada Highway overpasses were washed out. Transat flights in and out of the regional airport in Prince George were cancelled and delayed.

Non-recovery site: The Prince George Regional Hospital is temporarily closed until further notice because of flooding.
